IBBC holds participatory member introduction session
Reflecting the growth in new members, IBBC held a new member introduction session, enabling each member to showcase their business and explain how it is providing products and services to all members and Iraq business. Additionally, each member explained how they might provide services to other members and conversely offer supply chain opportunities to engage with them.
Four IBBC members presented:
Laura Wealsby from Control Risks in Baghdad, who not only covered the classic security services Control Risks have offered for many years to oil and gas clients, but also their diversifying intelligence and data services on company and country information that is available on global geo businesses and countries.
Amit Agrawal, Managing Director, Middle East & India Martrade Shipping & Logistics DMCC, shared Martrade’s three core areas of operation, starting at airport berths to berth ports and increasingly logistics across all Iraq (perhaps the only company to offer country to country in all locations), as well as their extensive networks in India, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf.
William Page, Strategic Advisor to 1001, gave an enlightening presentation on the new streaming service they have provided to over 1.7m Iraqis, since their launch in March, and the dynamics and extent of the smart phone and mobile on demand market for local and regional content. In short, they are the Netflix of Iraq and fully backed by Shaqrira Media group with a strong handle on access to 30 million young Iraqis for advertising and media insights. William is not only looking for new advertising opportunities but also for further partnership funding and access to additional unique content.
Hossein Gozal, partner and board member of Daax construction, illuminated how Daax have been building iconic buildings in Azerbaijan, often designed by Zaha Hadid, including the new Central Bank of Iraq building in Baghdad, set to be the new best designed building in Iraq. Daax also built a 274-villa complex in KRG and numerous hospitals and private projects in the region.
The session concluded with online breakout rooms for the members to meet the audience and participate in further business engagement.
We’d like to thank all the participants and look forward to the next session due in October.
