UNOPS Partners with UniHouse to Enhance Technical Capacities in Mosul and Ramadi
The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) has entered into a strategic partnership with UniHouse to enhance technical skills and provide on-the-job training for selected NGOs, civil servants, and community beneficiaries in Iraq. The project focuses on building local capacity in the critical areas of Operation and Maintenance (O&M), environmental sustainability, and infrastructure management.
Under this agreement, UniHouse will design comprehensive training curricula, develop specialized O&M manuals, and deliver hands-on training sessions in Mosul (Ninewa Governorate) and Ramadi (Anbar Governorate). The training aims to equip 130 participants, including engineers, community members, and NGO staff, with the necessary skills to effectively operate and maintain essential infrastructure. This includes power networks, housing units, and water treatment plants.
The project highlights UNOPS’ commitment to sustainable development and capacity building in post-conflict regions of Iraq, fostering long-term resilience and improving access to essential services for vulnerable communities. By strengthening local technical expertise, the initiative will ensure the ongoing maintenance and sustainability of key infrastructure assets, contributing to the broader recovery efforts in Mosul and Ramadi.
