The IBBC’s Rasmi Al Jabri Award for Business Excellence goes to Al Busttan

Mr Ismail Shakir, founder of Al Busttan, receives the Rasmi Al Jabri Award, which is presented by a panel of 3 judges drawn from the IBBC advisory council to the company that best exemplifies Anglo-Iraqi relations, business excellence, and overall growth.
Ismail was a close friend of Rasmi Al Jabri, who passed away in 2020. Rasmi was an inspirational figure, deeply committed to Iraq, a tireless supporter of small and medium-sized Iraqi businesses, and a firm believer in fostering Anglo-Iraqi relationships to strengthen Iraqi capabilities. It was no surprise, therefore, that his company, Basra Engineering Group, became one of the inaugural members of IBBC shortly after its launch in 2009. Following his retirement, Rasmi joined IBBC as Deputy Chairman and Member Representative in Iraq.
Previous winners include Sardar Group, Al Burhan Group, and Al Hadeel Al Hasan LLP.
Al Busttan is a leading oil field services company specialising in power generation, construction, operations, and design engineering. The company employs over 400 Iraqis and is dedicated to the highest standards of quality.
Baroness Nicholson, President of IBBC, said:
“We are delighted to award the Rasmi Al Jabri Award to Al Busttan, as they have been one of our most outstanding members for many years. It is very heart-warming to know that Rasmi’s values and love for Iraq are held in such high regard and exemplified by Ismail and his excellent company.”
