Stirling schools holds International Conference on Education & training in London with IBBC partners.
The International Conference on Education & Teaching in K-12 Schools (ICET) is a joint educational event organized by Stirling Schools, Cambridge University Press, City & Guilds, GEMS Education and UK Teachers Academy. It intends to promote education and contribute to the development of the schools and teachers’ professional development in Iraq and KRI.ICET brings together teacher trainers, educational experts, and community leaders from the national and international community. Presentations in ICET are delivered in three languages: English, Arabic and Kurdish. 2023 is now the third ICET conference.
ICET 2023 conference focuses on the theme “Exploring education that can nurture and appeal to Generation Z and Alpha.”
ICET London intends to bring together educational decision-makers and community leaders of Iraq and KRI with leading British educational experts and institutions to discuss the solutions for the educational needs within ICET categories.
Hosted by Stirling Schools, a two-day well- attended conference at the Dilly hotel, March 16 & 17, opened by a keynote speech from Lord Green, and attended by both IBBC members and the above partners including Bath Spa university.
Lord Green is a Vice President of IBBC, and Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne welcomed selected delegates for tea at the House of Lords after the conference. There will be a second conference in Erbil in May that IBBC will also partner.
The conference was attended by Lord Green, who gave a keynote speech opening the event, Mr Mahmood Hussein Al Qaisy, Vice chairman of the Education Committee, Iraqi Parliament, Dr Alan Hama Saeed Minister of Education, Kurdistan Regional Government.
In his address, Lord Green talked about Iraq’s heritage, the importance of education for the Iraqi young population, and how the latest technological world could be embedded in schools and universities to improve teaching techniques, and technological knowledge that helps and supports new generations’ job opportunities, as well as the need for community development. He also spoke about how the relationship between Iraq and the UK should be focused on education and not limited to trade and investment.
Professor Mohammed Al Uzri, IBBC Health and Higher Education Advisor, spoke and a high-ranking delegation of officials from the Higher Education and Education Ministries of Iraq and Iraqi Kurdistan attended. This was a great opportunity to provide members with an update on Iraq’s strategy and plans for education.
