The Iraq Britain Business Council has warmly welcomed the appointment of Fouad Massoum as Iraq’s new President.

The IBBC’s Executive Chairman, Baroness Nicholson, said Mr Massoum was a very senior figure in Iraqi politics and an “excellent choice” for President.

“We warmly welcome Mr Massoum to his new post. It is another sign that despite the difficult challenges, Iraq’s government is once again moving forward.  The country has a fantastic economy which is growing at an incredible rate.  The business opportunities are enormous,” added Baroness Nicholson.

“The IBBC would also like to wish President Talabani all the very best for the future.  He has been a powerful figure at the very top of Iraqi politics for a long time, and it is marvellous to see that he is now back home, fit and well.”

The IBBC has more than 60 members, some of the biggest names in world commerce. It facilitates business, trade, investment, human resources, training and transfer of technology and know-how into the Republic of Iraq.
