New speakers announced for upcoming IBBC Autumn Conference

With just over six weeks to go until the IBBC Autumn Conference, the Iraq Britain Business Council (IBBC) is pleased to announce the second line-up of speakers who will join the event. The conference, which will be held in Dubai for the first time this year, will bring together more than 20 global business leaders and key decision-makers from the oil and gas, energy, finance, legal, security and logistic sectors, along with influential local players.


Marwa Al Nasaa, the International Monetary Fund’s Resident Representative for Iraq; Faisal Al Haimus, Chairman and Acting CEO of the Trade Bank of Iraq; Dennis Flannery, Citibank’s Managing Director and Country Head for Iraq; and Gavin Rennie, Ernst & Young’s Global Power and Utilities Emerging Markets Leader, are among the roster of newly confirmed speakers. Al Nasaa, Haimus and Flannery will join the session on finance, while Rennie will participate in the panel on opportunities in power generation and electricity supply.

Joining them at the conference are representatives from the World Bank, International Finance Corporation, Iraq Middle Market Development Foundation, Islamic International Bank (Al-Iraqia for Money Transfer Co.), Gulftainer, Management Partners, Stephenson Horwood and URUK Engineering and Contracting Co. Organisations already participating in the conference include the Rumaila Operating Organisation (BP), Weir Group, SKA International and Restrata.

H.E. Dr Ibrahim Al-Jaafari, Iraq’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, will open the conference alongside Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne, IBBC’s Executive Chairman, while Frank Baker OBE, Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Iraq, will also speak during the opening session of the conference. Other ministerial and government officials from Iraq, the UK and UAE have also been invited to the event.

This year’s conference will focus on doing business in Iraq. As well as sessions on power and finance, the conference will also examine the Iraq oil and gas sector in 2016, opportunities in Iraq for the private sector, and how to deliver efficient training in situ for the national workforce.

Registration for the IBBC Autumn Conference, which will be held at The Address Dubai Marina on Sunday 6 November 2016, is now open. The registration fee for non-members is £700. IBBC members and members of partner organisations are entitled to special discounted rates.
