Jon Wilks appointed as new UK Ambassador to Iraq
The IBBC is delighted that Mr Jon Wilks CMG will be become the new UK Ambassador to Iraq in November 2017. This will be the third time Mr Wilks has represented the British Government in various capacities in Iraq. Presently, Mr Wilks is the Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman.
During the recent Cumberland Lodge Retreat, IBBC had the immense privilege of hosting the Ambassador designate, where Mr Wilks was invited as an after dinner guest speaker to address Members of IBBC.
The IBBC is looking forward to working in close cooperation with Mr Wilks in the future, at a time when UK assistance, knowledge and investment is vital in contributing towards Iraq’s economic and political stability.
The IBBC would also like to thank current Ambassador Frank Baker OBE, whose outstanding support of the council since 2014 has been exemplary and invaluable. The IBBC looks forward to working closely with Mr Baker until the transfer of Ambassadorial duties later this year.
