Iraq Deputy PM and Oil Chief Set For London Conference

IBBC’s INVESTING IN IRAQ London conference gets underway on Thursday November 17th 2011 where guest speakers will include Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister, Dr Rowsch Shaways and Dhiya Jafaar, Director-General, South Oil Company.

The one-day conference starting at 8.00 am is at One Great George Street, SW1P 3AA, an award winning venue in the heart of London’s Westminster.

Participants will also hear key-note speeches from Salah Mohammed, General Manager of the Rumaila Field Operating Organisation, Dr Salar Ameen Dep-Chairman of Iraq’s National Investment Commission, Mrs Al Jaff, Chairman of the Trade Bank of Iraq, Mr Al Khayat President of the Erbil Chamber of Commerce, and the Rt Hon Lord Howell of Guildford Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Officeand the Rt. Hon. Lord Robertson of Port Ellen, a former UK Defence Secretary, and ex Secretary General of NATO.

The first keynote speaker to the address the conference at 9 am will be Dr Rowsch Shaways who recently told IBBC’s Basrah conference that Iraq’s budget next year will be the biggest in its history, a third of which will be investment, with 130 major construction projects in Basrah province alone.

South Oil Company Director-General, Dhiya Jafaar – who is at the forefront of Iraq’s declared ambitious plans to boost oil production to a staggering 10-12 million barrels per day by 2017 – will give his insight into Iraq’s hydrocarbons industries along with Salah Mohammed, General Manager of Rumaila Field Operating Organisation.

Lord Howell is responsible for all Foreign and Commonwealth business in the House of Lords and UK international energy policy. Lord Robertson is a member of the UK All Party Parliamentary Group for Economic Development in Iraq and the Region and was NATO Secretary General during the US led invasion of Iraq in 2003.

In the afternoon will be “break out meetings” – 10 in all – followed by a discussion between the 5 chairmen on topics discussed.

The conference – which is a high level and exclusive event open strictly to invitees only – will wrap up with tea at 5pm.
