IMMDF to provide two full-year scholarships for students of business, entrepreneurship, finance and development at the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani.
The collaboration between AUIS and IMMDF was agreed on 6 February 2017 by Jorge R. Vila, General Manager of IMMDF and Bruce Ferguson, President of AUIS. The ceremony was attended by students participating in the programme and was overseen by Ken Gross, the U.S. General Consul in Erbil.
The scheme has already seen the initiation of a Development Finance Seminar, lasting five weeks, which will focus on principles of development finance and sharing IMMDF’s substantial knowledge of working with Iraqi companies for twelve years. Eighteen students will take part in the project, building credit analysis skills and writing a final concept paper on Development Finance in Kurdistan.
At the end of the seminar, two students will be granted the full year scholarships based on their academic performance and the quality of their final papers. It is hoped the seminar will benefit all participants and improve the level of development finance expertise in Kurdistan.
