IBBC has been convening regular geopolitical and security updates for its members since the outbreak of hostilities in the Gulf.

Led, under Chatham House rules, by Jon Willks, former ambassador to Iraq, and currently member of IBBCs advisory council and Fellow at the Atlantic Council. In this week’s session he was joined by Professor Gareth Stansfield OBE Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean of Exeter University, who gave an extensive and detailed analysis of the geopolitical options facing the USA and the various scenarios and pressures on the Gulf, Iraq and the Kurds posed by both the USA and Iran. Over 25 members attended, with insights and questions from several of them, including Makram Jaibaji of GCS and Ali Mashkour of IBBC’s Baghdad office.
