IBBC President, Baroness Nicholson and IBBC Commercial Advisor, Richard Cotton Complete Business Trip to Washington

On their visit to Washington last week Baroness Nicholson and Richard Cotton met with IBBC members, Tim Richards and George Pickart from GE , Aram Zamgochian from Mott Macdonald, Jason R. Wits from Amec Foster Wheeler and Jones Lindgren from Perkins+Will UK, for breakfast on Friday 21st July at DACOR Bacon House.

The Baroness reported on her various meetings with Senators and Congress men and women and the conversations she had had with regard to US policy for supporting Iraq. She also reported on her meeting with US Aid and her planned meeting at the Pentagon. In addition she reported on her last visit to Baghdad where she had  raised issues pertinent to IBBC members with the Prime Minister with positive outcomes.

Richard Cotton reported on meetings with the US Chamber of Commerce (an IBBC Global Partner), The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) and the IMF, plus a potential IBBC new member.

The IMF meeting was of particular interest in that they were continuing to support Iraq with loans and in conjunction with the World Bank they were auditing and reporting on the State Owned Banks and Enterprises with a view to improving their performance.

Members were asked to list any issues important to them and these have now been received.
