IBBC Managing Director Christophe Michels Visits Iraqi Red Crescent Headquarters in Baghdad

Christophe Michels, Managing Director of the Iraq Britain Business Council (IBBC), paid a visit to the headquarters of the Iraqi Red Crescent Society in Mansur, Baghdad, where he met with Dr. Yaseen Ahmed Abbas, President of the Iraqi Red Crescent Society, and Professor Mohammed Al Uzri, IBBC’s Advisor for Health, Education, and Heritage Sectors.

The visit underscored IBBC’s ongoing commitment to supporting healthcare development in Iraq and strengthening ties with institutions working on the ground to provide vital services to Iraqi citizens.

Several distinguished medical professionals, including surgeons and physicians of Iraqi origin currently practicing in the United Kingdom, were also present. These experts are part of an impactful Red Crescent initiative that facilitates their return to Iraq to provide much-needed medical services. The program, which is supported by the Iraqi Red Crescent, enables high-level surgical procedures, consultations, and training to take place across Iraqi hospitals and clinics.

Mr. Michels praised the initiative for its significant contribution to Iraq’s healthcare sector, noting its role in building bridges between the Iraqi medical diaspora and the local health system.

“The collaboration between the Iraqi Red Crescent and medical professionals from the UK exemplifies the kind of constructive partnership that can make a real difference in people’s lives,” Mr. Michels said during the visit.
