IBBC Hosts Reception & Dinner at the Alwiyah Club, Baghdad, 8th January 2025
The Iraq Britain Business Council (IBBC) hosted a distinguished Reception and Dinner in one of Baghdad’s most iconic venues at the historic Alwiyah Club on the 8th of January 2025. The event was attended by over 35 senior representatives of IBBC members. Among the guests were Dr. Luay Al Khateed, a member of IBBC’s Advisory Council and former Minister of Electricity and Jon Wilks CMG, former Ambassador and the IBBC’s Senior Advisor.
Attendees enjoyed an evening of engaging discussions, networking, and exchanging ideas in one of Baghdad’s oldest institutions. Established in 1924, the Alwiyah Club continues to stand as a testament to Baghdad’s rich cultural and social heritage.
The evening featured a brief speech from Jon Wilks CMG, who expressed his delight in visiting Baghdad and commended the positive progress he observed during his visit.
Christophe Michels, IBBC Managing Director, also addressed the audience, thanking senior Iraqi government officials and IBBC members for their attendance. He highlighted the IBBC’s preparations for upcoming events, including a Business Reception with His Excellency the Prime Minister of Iraq in London and the IBBC Conference scheduled to take place in Baghdad this February.
