IBBC hosts Iraqi education delegation

In partnership with GEMS, IBBC hosted a reception in honour of the Iraqi Government delegation attending the World Education Forum at University of London on Wednesday 22nd May. The event was attended by numerous IBBC members and outside guests. Speakers included Baroness Nicholson, The Rt Hon Lord Boateng, Amir Saadati of GEMS and Prof. Alaa Alzwghaibi, Senior Advisor to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The IBBC is grateful to its education lead Professor Mohammed Al Uzri for arranging for this third major education sector related event within the last month.

The Iraqi contingent included universities and the ministry of higher education and cultural attache attendees from both Baghdad and Kurdistan, including University of Kurdistan IBBCs education members Newcastle university, Queen Mary College, University of Dundee and Liverpool university,) and the British Council.  The purpose of the event was to ensure members and attendees are fully aware of the summit and its objective to strengthen UK and Iraq collaboration in education.

Other IBBC members also include Hassan Heshmat of Hydro C, CEO of Al Zaman Group Ahmed Shaban, Unihouse global, Jorge Vila of Dolavon, Dr Victori Lindsay of UK Education in Iraq. Attendees included Dean of Al Kufa university, president of Al Mustansirivah university, Babel university, Baghdad university, Dohuk Polytechnic university, Mosul University, the Middle Technical university.

Professor Al Uzri commented ‘ IBBC has been cultivating relationships with the Iraqi ministries and universities and its very fulfilling to see them interacting and collaborating with our member universities to extend relationships and promote initiatives between our countries.’
