IBBC attends King Charles Birthday celebrations in Erbil
IBBC members attended and sponsored the Kings birthday celebrations in the Rotana Hotel Erbil. The host was the British Consul and guests included Mr Mechirvan Barzabi , Pavel Talabani, and Hoshyar Zebari of Kurdistan, and several KRI ministers and the British Ambassador.
IBBC members and sponsors included Mselect, Sardar Group and British University Erbil and Dr Ali Jawad, IBBCs regional manager.
The consul mentioned that he has enjoyed himself very much in Kurdistan and this is the second time he’s attended the celebrations in Erbil.
Historically the relationship between Kurdistan and Great Britain is strong and Britain has supported the Kurdish people in many ways.
The British Embassy in Baghdad hosted the reception attended by senior Iraqi officials, diplomats, and business representatives to celebrate and strengthen the enduring partnership between the United Kingdom and Iraq. His Excellency Irfan Siddiq, the British Ambassador to Iraq, warmly welcomed guests and reflected on the longstanding historical relationship between the two nations, highlighting the mutual respect and cooperation that continue to underpin their ties.
In his remarks, H.E. Irfan Siddiq also emphasised the significance of the recent agreement reached during the visit of the Iraqi Prime Minister to the United Kingdom. The £12.3 billion export finance package aims to boost trade opportunities for British businesses while supporting Iraq’s infrastructure and economic development. This landmark agreement demonstrates both nations’ shared commitment to fostering sustainable growth, investment, and long-term collaboration.

The event was attended by a distinguished audience including H.E. Mr. Mohammed Hussein Bahr Aluloom, Undersecretary of the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who underscored the importance of continuing and deepening bilateral relations. The evening was supported by several members of the Iraq Britain Business Council (IBBC), including Sardar Group and MSelect, alongside other internationally recognised companies. Representatives from various embassies and Iraqi government officials and politicians were also present, reflecting the strong spirit of cooperation and mutual ambition between Iraq and the United Kingdom.
