IBBC attend NOF Energy Conference: ‘Energy A Balanced Future Conference and Exhibition’ on 14 June
Richard Cotton, Commercial Adviser and John M. Scott, Oil & Gas Adviser attended the conference on 14 June and were pleased to meet up with IBBC members Wood. The event highlighted the importance of securing a balanced energy mix in the UK and globally to meet future demand.
Richard Cotton, stated:
“There was much discussion on the future energy supply balance and from an Iraq perspective an excellent presentation from ConocoPhillips on the importance of reinvigorating supply chain management, procurement systems and risk sharing to promote value.”
John M. Scott was pleased to note that confirmation was received from the Department of International Trade (DIT) that in the oil and gas sector, Iraq is now included in their list of High Value Campaigns. A hugely positive development, which could have a major impact on British businesses working in the sector.
The agenda included presentations on:
- The current and future shape of the energy industry not only in the UK but also globally
- The challenges faced over the last few years in the major energy sectors e.g. oil & gas, renewables and steps taken to meet these challenges
- The ongoing and future challenges resulting from the need to decarbonise the economy and how these are being met with new technologies, different business models and behaviours
- The impact of new technologies such as electric vehicles, energy storage, hydrogen, etc
- The current and future opportunities for the supply chain in the UK and globally resulting from the need to achieve a balanced energy mix
