IBBC attend Higher Education for the Development of Iraq Conference in London, 14-15 September

The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom, in cooperation with the Iraqi Cultural Attaché in Britain, organized a conference entitled “Higher Education for the Development of Iraq” on 14 and 15 September 2018 in London.

Professor Abulrazzaq Al-Essa, Iraq’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, opened the ground-breaking conference on Higher Education for the Development of Iraq in London on 14 & 15 September. Conference speakers included leading members of the academic community and representatives from numerous in Iraqi and international universities, at least ten from the UK. The large audience included academics, politicians and business leaders. The IBBC was represented by Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne (President), Christophe Michel (MD) and John Scott (Oil & Gas Adviser).

Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne, The Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Iraq and President of IBBC particpated in Session 1 of the conference, alongside Minister Zahawi, Lord Mohamed Sheikh and Professor Robert Allison, Vice President of Loughborough University.

The conference addressed the importance of education in developing Iraq, engaging the large and growing population of young Iraqis, and building on existing links between Iraqi and international universities, including several from the UK.
