Dundee University Hosts Introductory Webinar for HCED Iraq Students. Date: 10 April 2025

On April 10th, 2025, IBBC facilitated a successful virtual introductory session for Dundee University with Iraqi postgraduate students in collaboration with the Higher Committee for Education Development (HCED) in Iraq. The webinar, attended by 17 participants including 12 prospective students, was led by Grant Smith, Global Recruitment Manager, and Stephen Land, Academic Regional Lead for MENA.

Grant opened the session with a warm welcome and shared an overview of Dundee’s history, highlighting its high standard of living and affordability. Stephen then introduced the university’s postgraduate offerings across the Humanities, Science and Engineering, and Life Sciences. He underlined the value of interdisciplinary teaching, especially within the Science and Engineering departments, and emphasized how a degree from Dundee can serve as a gateway to global career opportunities.

Interest from students in PhD programs was met with enthusiasm by Grant, who explained the application process, including how to develop research proposals and explore project opportunities. He also offered to arrange bespoke follow-up sessions tailored to students’ specific academic interests, such as Dentistry, and made himself available as a direct point of contact for any further inquiries or support related to the application process.
