British Business ready to invest in Basra

While in London, to attend the IBBC’s 11th Iraq day at Mansion House, Mr Ali Shaddad, the Basra representative to the Iraqi Parliament and member of the Oil & Gas and Natural Resources committee met with Iraq’s Ambassador to the UK Mr Mohammed Jaafar Al-Sadr.

During his meeting at the Embassy in Kensington, the Ambassador and the Minister discussed and agreed that British Companies have a “genuine desire to work and invest in the Basra Governate due to its special economic status and important geographic location.”

Mr. Shaddad added that there were also discussions on the importance of Parliamentary legislation to ensure the positive impact of the passing of the Tripartite Budget on the future of Iraq.

Mr Shaddad was able to meet a large group of the Iraqi diaspora based in London and praised the work of the Ambassador and the Embassy in supporting the needs of business.

The IBBC’s Annual Conference brought together a range of Iraqi Ministers and Ministry figures with major figures in the financial, banking, energy and education sector’s to discuss how Iraq is opening up to the world and to enable opportunity.
