British Ambassador to Iraq briefs IBBC members
Ambassador Mark Bryson- Richardson, on Wednesday, 3rd November addressed over 30 IBBC members in a wide ranging and informative conversation. Christophe Michels welcomed the Ambassador and chaired the meeting. He welcomed the Ambassador by saying that he had made a very positive and engaging start to his first few months, in relation to IBBC and the economic agenda in Iraq. IBBC President Baroness Nicholson, attended the meeting and thanked Ambassador for his exceptional work so far.
The Ambassador covered a wide range of topics including the view on the current, security, economic and political developments, and fielded several questions following his initial comments.
After the meeting Christophe Michels stated that even though Iraq was in a strong economic position now it is clear that the next Government has no time to waste to tackle the various decisive issues facing the country. These have been clearly spelled out by the present Government in its white paper published early on in its mandate. The UK and other international actors and most importantly private businesses operating in Iraq are well equipped to support Iraq in facing the many hard choices the country must make.
