Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne, President of IBBC, visits Iraq

Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne, President of the Iraq Britain Business Council (IBBC) returned to London today having completed a four day visit to Baghdad. Baroness Nicholson was accompanied and assisted by IBBC’s Commercial Adviser, Richard Cotton.

During her visit, Baroness Nicholson met with H.E. Mr Fuad Masum, President of Iraq, and H.E. Mr Al Abadi, Prime Minister of Iraq, with both of whom she had wide ranging discussions.

The visit was concluded with an IBBC lunch  at the Babylon Hotel, with over forty representatives from IBBC member companies present. IBBC was pleased to receive as guests Dr Sami Al Araji, Chairman of the National Investment Commission, Mr Abbas Umran Mussa, Acting Deputy Minister of Transport, and representatives from the Department for International Trade and the Foreign Commonwealth Office from the British Embassy.

On Saturday evening the Baroness, in her role as Chairman of the Amar Foundation, attended a Twenty Fifth Anniversary Festival, which was a glittering array of music and dancing, representing all the regions of Iraq. Amar is IBBC’s charity of choice.
