Baroness Nicholson weds in Winterbourne

In a joyful service, Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne, was married to Mr Brian Plunkett in her home church on 28th June.
Sir John Montgomery -Cuninghame of Corsehill, brother-in-law of the Baroness, gave her away. The service was officiated by Bishop Alastair Redfern and supported by the local vicar Rev John Toogood and The Revd. Edmund Newell, with distinguished and much-loved family, ushers, friends and colleagues.
The wedding was marked by the Baroness’ two great loves, her family and music.
With 10 bridesmaids and a full church of family and friends she was stirringly accompanied to the church porch by ‘The International Highlander’ pipe band and then from the church to the reception. The band included Oxford Professor of Cancer Medicine David Kerr, and AMAR Foundation trustee. The music during the service included AMAR Foundation violinist Professor Michael Bochmann, a trumpet, a top Organist and 12-piece choir who sang ‘Jesu Joy of Man’s desiring’ (twice) and four hymns, including the Latin plainsong, ‘Veni Creator Spiritus’, musically directed by Ashley Goodall of IBBC and AMAR.
Prominent guests included Lord Luce her brother-in-law, Mr Christophe Michels and his wife, Andrew Methven COO of AMAR Foundation, Trustees of AMAR Foundation and Rageh Omar, Mr Stan Parrish a trustee who flew in with his wife Joyce from Utah, AMAR Deputy Chair and IBBC Board member Damon Parker. In his homily Bishop Alastair Redfern spoke on the importance of ‘Agape’, the Greek concept of love for the other, a selfless love towards other humans, of which he noted the Baroness’ is an exemplar, demonstrated through her life of selfless care and compassion for those who are vulnerable and in need.
