Aviation in Iraq

Regular airline flights have been suspended in Iraq since the end of March 2020 due to the worldwide Covid-19 Pandemic with only special charter flights operating. Iraqi airways will be operating 4 flights per week from Istanbul to Baghdad from 16th June 2020. Qatar Airways where supposed to operate from 17th June 2020 a daily flight to Baghdad but have cancelled these flights for a 3rd time. Currently Qatar airways are taking bookings to Baghdad from Doha form 23rd June 2020. Most of the airlines that previously operated to Baghdad, Erbil and Basra will be resuming operations in the 2nd week of July. There is a high chance that Qatar airways will postpone their flights for a third time. Iraq has enacted a 14 days quarantine period for arrivals into the country regardless if you are an Iraqi National or other. This period must be spent in designated hotels and the hotel operator will issue a letter stating the 14 days has been completed. The Al-Burhan Baghdad International Airport hotel can comfortably accommodate guests on a full board basis in our hotel securely located at the heart of the airport which is protected by G4s. The Al-Burhan Baghdad International Airport hotel has obtained an exception from the airport health authorities to facilitate for quarantine and can work with guests from meeting arrivals at the aircraft door and taking care of the complex formalities of entry into Iraq and at the end of the 14 days period issue a letter stating the 14 days has been successfully completed. Baghdad airport is one of the most secure areas in Iraq and allows quick and easy access to emergency medivac and access to Baghdad Hospitals in the unlikely event they will be required.
