IBBC and British chamber of commerce Turkey in combined initiative to do business in iraq.

IBBC and BCCT ran a collaborative event on ‘ doing business in iraq’ to showcase the opportunities of starting and investing in Iraq as a destination, and the mechanisms and considerations involved.

Key IBBC members spoke about various aspects during the seninar:

Chris Gaunt O.B.E. Chairman spoke on behalf of the British Chamber of Commerce in Turkey and mentioned that he worked in Iraq to establish Coca-Cola 25 years ago, and who are now a firm part of the business landscape.

Robin Stehlik of Pilgrims discussed Security in Iraq, and how local knowledge is important to avoid any protests or small scale flair ups, but tha the macro situation is generally stable and calm. Jon Wilks CMG, former ambassador to iraq and IBBC advisory member in a geo political overview, noted how much infrastructure is booming and the expectation that the new government will continue the consensus on investing and developing the economy.

Jamil Choucair CEO of SC Middle East gave a macro financial over view that sees the fundamentals of the economy and growth continue to develop well, with a growing population, demand for services and increased oil production and large scale construction projects driving growth. Ayman Abu Dhaim, CEO of NBI bank, showcased the range of services and technology available to customers in Iraq through his rapidly expanding bank- who have now over 500,000 customers, and branches across all regions.  Ahmed Alhaidary of Management Partners – gave a full Business analysis and overview, of al key Iraqi business sectors, areas of growth  and insights for  Turkish companies operating in Iraq. David Tannourji of Mselect presented their Workforce and HR overview with helpful considerations and bullet points about doing business in Iraq, and the importance of knowing the laws, and local requirements.
