IBBC welcomes UAE Business Council Members 

IBBC held a very well attended webinar with UAE Business Council on ” Doing Business in Iraq “.  The key theme was how to enable and guide companies considering setting up or exporting to Iraq . IBBC fielded four leading members on different aspects of business. Mr Jon Wilks CMG, Senior Advisor IBBC and Former Ambassador to Iraq, gave an overview of the geopolitical situation and his view on how Iraq has developed in the last few years, evolving infrastructure, political stability and personal security and the noticeable amount of cranes in key cities. Amar Shubar of Management Partners gave a detailed overview of business sectors, opportunities for growth and indication of Iraq’s trade with the Gulf. John Kitchen, Defaf Alkhaleej Security, Iraq, explained how to navigate Iraq and the south and an outline of their services and how to engage the tribal and local leaders effectively. Finally, David Tannourji of Mselect, gave an overview of the workforce requirements and compliance required in Iraq and their skills report. Natasha Hatherall-Shawe of TishTash Group then spoke of her experience launching brands in Iraq and the need to make bespoke approaches to the locality. Bradley Jones of UAE-UK Business Council completed the discussions and thanked everyone for attending. Ashley Goodall, the webinar chair invited UAEBC and Abu Dhabi and Dubai chambers of commerce to the IBBC conference in Basrah 3/4th December.
