IBBC at the Iraq Investment Forum in Baghdad

On 27 September, IBBC’s Jon Wilks (Senior Advisor) and Ali Mashkour (Baghdad Office Manager) attended the Iraq Investment Forum in Baghdad, organised by the National Investment Commission with IBBC as a partner.

The forum kicked off with a speech from Prime Minister Mohammed Al Sudani, and included top-level contributions from the Iraq Ministry of Oil, the Jordanian Minister of Mineral Resources, and several other Iraqi ministers. The main goal of the forum was to promote investment opportunities in Iraq and to send a clear message to international audiences: the Government of Iraq has announced $480 billion worth of projects open to investment across a wide range of sectors.

The conference also ran a series of excellent sessions, with particular attention on the Development Road Project and Faw Grand Port. Panelists Alesandro Trekamo (Oliver Wyman) and Bruno Troka (VP, BTP) shared insights into the importance of these projects and assured that the feasibility study of the Development Road has potential value not only for Iraq but for the wider region.

It was also a great opportunity for the IBBC team to catch up with members and friends, including SAP, Management Partners, Al Zaman Group, SIEMENS and the Chairman of the Bank of Baghdad.

The Forum was a valuable chance for IBBC to connect with members, partners, and government representatives, and to stay close to the latest investment opportunities in Iraq.
