On Wednesday, the 24th of September 2025, the IBBC visited the headquarters of the Basra Oil Company, located at the Burjesia site in Basra. A meeting was held with Mr. Bassem Abdul Karim Nasser, Director General and Chairman of the Board.

The meeting afforded an opportunity to present the aims and activities of the Iraq Britain Business Council. Particular emphasis was placed on its commitment to fostering stronger ties between Iraqi institutions and British partners, both public and private, with special attention given to the maritime sector. The discussion also included ways to support institutional development across government departments responsible for maritime affairs.

The Director General received the IBBC with enthusiasm. He expressed full support for the objectives of the IBBC and welcomed further cooperation. He spoke appreciatively of the Al-Zaman Group, noting the value of the logistical services it continues to provide at Iraq’s oil terminals.’
