IBBC Managing Director Christophe Michels Visits Al Zaman Group’s Exhibit at Security and Defense Expo in Baghdad
Christophe Michels, Managing Director of the Iraq Britain Business Council (IBBC), visited the Al Zaman Group’s wing at the Security and Defense Expo held at the Baghdad International Fair on 22nd of April. The visit highlighted the growing cooperation and industrial capabilities within Iraq’s maritime sector.
Mr. Michels was welcomed by Mr. Ahmed Shaban, CEO of Al Zaman Group, who personally guided him through the exhibit. A key highlight of the tour was a patrol boat on display—one of the first to be produced at Al Zaman’s newly operational manufacturing facility in Iraq. The boat represents a significant milestone for local production and technological advancement in the Iraqi maritime industry.
During the visit, Commander of the Iraqi Navy, Admiral Mazin Abdulwahid Kian, also visited the Al Zaman booth. He engaged in an extended discussion with Mr. Michels and Mr. Shaban, expressing keen interest in the factory’s capabilities and the group’s current and future projects in Iraq.
The presence of key defense stakeholders at the Al Zaman booth underscores the importance of Iraqi-led industrial initiatives and the strong interest from both international and domestic partners in supporting Iraq’s maritime infrastructure.
