ExxonMobil in Iraq
In January 2010, ExxonMobil Iraq Limited, an affiliate of ExxonMobil Corporation, signed an agreement with the Iraq Oil Ministry operated South Oil Company (SOC) to rehabilitate and redevelop the West Qurna I field in southern Iraq.

ExxonMobil supervises, directs and manages the conduct of day-to-day petroleum operations at the West Qurna I field through a joint Field Operating Division (FOD), which is the Operator, and which is staffed by personnel from SOC and ExxonMobil.

We are pleased to be building strong relationships not only with SOC and the Ministry of Oil, but also with provincial and district governments, local businesses, and the communities within which we work.

ExxonMobil’s Iraq National Content goal is to provide sustainable benefits to local communities, particularly through workforce and supplier development opportunities.

Working with local communities
We are committed to ensuring hiring for the project is from the local communities to the maximum extent possible.

Currently, over eighty percent of the West Qurna I workforce are Iraqi nationals, with a large proportion from that region.

We are implementing comprehensive workforce training programs in accordance with the requirements set forth in the Technical Service Contract and we are also working closely with our sub-contractors to develop Iraqi supplier capabilities.

We are proud to play a leading role in providing the energy the world needs to support economic growth, technological advancement and the well-being of communities around the globe.
